Yay! You’re all booked in with me and your session is coming up! I hope you’re as excited as I am to our time together.

I’ve prepared this page with some additional info just as a prep guide to help you feel your best when we meet for photos. Enjoy!

What should I expect from a session with you?

First and foremost: I want this to be fun! For you and for myself as well. When we get together you will find a very excited person. I love doing what I do! I’ll treat you as a friend and you’ll become the focus of my attention, and most definitely the audience to my jokes.

I will give you prompts to make you move around as opposed to posing. I will talk to you, ask things about your lives, and try my best to keep the flow of the session organic and light. I always make sure to sit everyone tight for a traditional portrait, but the bond and the fun times are the absolute essence of the photos we will capture.

So try to relax and enjoy as much as you can, even if you’ve already had to dance to “head, shoulders, knees and toes” 137 times on that day to keep the kids’ mood up for the pictures.

  • Comfort first. Let’s be real. Can someone REALLY relax and be themselves in an itchy sweater or tortuous heels? Opt for outfits that let you move, groove, and show off those authentic smiles without any wardrobe malfunctions.

  • Keep it Simple with What You Already Own
Sometimes the best outfits are already hanging in your closet! You don’t really need to buy something new that you might not wear again—simple, basic outfits work beautifully. Choosing clothes you feel comfortable and familiar in, helps the real you shine through.

  • Consider the environment. I mean, would you wear a tuxedo or a bridesmaid gown to have quality time with your kids in your living room? If it’s weird in real life, it’ll also be weird in the picture. There’s nothing wrong with dressing up (I’m not expecting you to wear pyjamas), as long as the wardrobe choice fits the vibe of our session.

  • Photography loves texture. It’s very easy to go overboard when it comes to patterns, but different textures are always a win in your photo! Velvet, sherpa, linen.. They make your photos feel more tridimensional and charming.

  • Feel pretty. I don’t care if it’s a couple of layers of makeup, a pair of socks that you love, or those earrings that mean so much to you. I want you to use at least one thing that boosts your confidence and makes you feel amazing!

  • Matching is good. Coordinating is better. Spice it up with a colour scheme! Think complementary tones rather than everyone rocking the same shade. Also: Trends come and go, but timeless outfits stand the test of time. For this reason, neutral and earthy colours are a safe choice for any session. Here are some colour palettes for inspiration.

What should I wear?

That has got to be the most asked questions not only to me, but ANY photographer in the world! When it comes to your styling in our session there’s no right or wrongs, but there are some rules of thumb that never fail for my clients, and I’m going to break them down for you.
